All of the cafes in Paris were picturesque, but after shooting enough of them in one day, I realized the real story wasn’t always the establishment itself. Sometimes it was the people. The way most of the chairs face outward toward the street, not toward their tablemates. A man walked into this frame with such perfect motion, and even though it breaks all the photographic cropping rules, it made the image.

This one belongs in the kitchen.
