I’ve been taking photos for most of my life. I remember getting a Canon PowerShot point-and-shoot camera when I was a kid and using it as a tool to look at the world differently. The camera constrained my vision in a way that made me look for things that were interesting or beautiful. I’ve had a number of other cameras since then, but my camera is still a tool that I get to use to capture the vision of the world that only exists while I’m photographing it.
I love photographing landscapes and architecture. Both of those subjects are things we come across every day, and often times, we don’t appreciate them for their complexity and beauty. When I pick up my camera to capture those subjects, I’m forced to make decisions about which elements to include and which to leave out of frame. It’s possible to have a beautiful landscape in front of you that doesn’t translate well into a photograph. There’s no asking the mountain to scoot over, or to turn its peak a little to the right so that I can get the sun shining on it just right. I get to work with just the subject that’s in front of me at that moment, which forces me to work creatively for every image.
Living in Dallas, Texas also challenges me as a landscape photographer. Whether it’s finding inspiration in the plants and trees that persevere through the brutal summers here or making the most of trips to places rich in natural splendor, I’m always trying to capture the richness of the landscapes around me.
Growing up as the daughter of an interior designer and artist has given me an appreciation for finding art that you love and that inspires you and surrounding yourself with it in your home, office, or any other place you spend time. I want to make sure that fine art photography is well-represented in those environments, and that everyone has access to those kinds of images.
I offer a number of prints for sale in all sorts of sizes on my store, with the goal that everyone who wants it has the opportunity to build a collection of art that makes them smile every time they look at it.
For designers and individual curators looking for a more collaborative experience in creating art that’s been specifically developed for their space, I also take commissions. I love to meet with people, learn about their design styles, and explore their visions with them to create the perfect work of art. If you’re interested in working with me on a project like this to create custom art for you or your client, please send me an email at [email protected]!
